Evans Raro, 39, who hails from Nyamira, was dismissed from Kenya Air Force HQ Wing in 2008 fo alleged involvement in politics, an accusation he denies to date.

His predicaments escalated during 2007/08 hotly contested polls which show Mr Odinga dispute Mwai Kibaki's victory. The KDF senior officers dismissed him from duty after reporting beyond scheduled time.

"I was nursing my mother. There were chaos all over. I reported my seniors but they accused me of taking part in politics. Even after an explanation, none listened to me. I left KDF with a clean record," he said in an interview.

With nowhere to go, Raro secured a VIP security job at Orange House where he was tasked to take care of Raila Odinga. He diligently performed the duties. Photos of him guarding Mr Odinga post 2013 elections are familiar at Orange House.

In 2016 during the ugly IEBC demonstrations, Mr Raro is credited for evacuating Mr Odinga and Governor Nyong'o to safety when police started firing at the demonstrators.

"I was in charge. I remember evacuating Raila and Nyong'o to safety. Infact, I took the governor, then working as Kisumu senator to his office," recalled Raro, adding that he is yet to meet Nyong'o since then.

And in 2016, he was lured by Governor John Nyagarama from Orange House to offer security back home. But it hasn't been easy since he was recruited to a low cadre job that makes it difficult to feed his family.

According to him, he's now ready to serve in the military, arguing that his dismissal was unjustifiable. He asked both Nyong'o and Mr Odinga to assist him return to the KDF.

"I am ready to serve in KDF. Life out here is challenging. My family sees photos of me and Odinga but fail to understand why am still languishing," he pleaded.
