President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday hosted Kenyan teacher Peter Mokaya Tabichi at State House.

Tabichi bagged 2019 Global Teacher Prize of Sh100 million.

The head of state promised to donate Sh20 million to his school during the visit. 

He said that the amount will be used to renovate the school after the exemplary work of their teacher.

“President Kenyatta committed to donating Sh20 million to Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School for the expansion of infrastructure, that will improve facilities geared towards encouraging the students to take science subjects,”  State House revealed. 

 Uhuru also said that he is impressed by the good work Tabichi has been doing in the education sector.

Tabichi, a teacher at Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School said that he is impressed with the award.  

Uhuru described the teacher as a role model to the youth in the society during the meeting.

“President Kenyatta said teacher Tabichi is a role model and an inspiration to the society, especially to his fellow teachers and all Kenyan students. He commended teacher Tabichi's commitment and devotion to the work of educating the youth @TeacherPrize, "said Uhuru’s team.

Tabichi has promised to use the money on donations in the education sector.
