The horrific incident took place near Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), leaving many in shock.

Angry students came out to demand a detailed investigative report on the murder and increased security in the area.

“Insecurity has become a major problem in Moi University, students are being murdered almost every week. This has to stop.

"The administration should increase security personnel both inside and around the campus to ensure that people with ill intentions against students are scared away,” Maxwell Kipruto a second-year student in the school of education reacted.

Students have also been cautioned against getting involved in relationships with strangers especially those who are not students.

“It is being said that the man was not a student. I think students should be extra cautious on who they get engaged with. Study someone before making the decision of dating that person.

"Nonetheless, with all that said we request for the school to follow up on the case an ensure justice is administered,” Esther Wanjiku a third-year student at Moi University main campus stated.

Details surrounding the brutal murder are still not yet clear.

The University administration had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
