A member of the General Service Unit has been arrested while trying to enter Somalia.
George Karitha Githaiga is said to have been arrested while trying to cross the border into the war-torn country through an illegal border point.
He was arraigned before Mandera Resident Magistrate Duncan Mtai but denied the claims and was remanded pending the next hearing of the case.
According to the prosecution, Githaiga had attempted to enter Somalia and it is still unknown why he had wanted to cross into the country that hosts militant group Al Shabaab which has been at the forefront wrecking havoc in Kenya through attacks.
The prosecution had earlier on requested the court to denies him bail on claims that he may not attend the next court session.
Somalia is known for insecurity and the country is home to Al Shabaab which has been accused by Kenyan authorities of recruiting desperate Kenyan youth into terrorism.
The Kenya Defense Forces are presently in Somalia fighting the Al Shabaab and the force was deployed there following orders by former Internal Security Minister the late Prof George Saitoti.
