Prime suspect in Monica Kimani's murder Mr. Joseph Irungu alias Jowie now says that 'he's at great pain' and should be released to seek medication.
Mr. Irungu, I affidavits sworn in court, further states that he is ready to surrender his passport besides abiding by any set of regulations issued by court just to secure his freedom.
“I have a wound on my left shoulder that has not been properly attended to by medical doctors and I have only been on painkillers which have not been of any good use to me as I am in constant pain,” Irungu said.
He also said the police have failed to aid him to get medical assistance as directed by the court last week.
“I honestly and sincerely promise to abide by all conditionalities that may be set to enable me get proper medication for my wound and attend to the heading of this case slated for while on bond,” Irungu said.
Mr. Irungu, who is facing murder charges along with his fiance Jacque Maribe, adds that he's innocent and that he will fight to clear his name.
On her part, Ms. Maribe, seems to dissociate herself from Irungu, further indicating that the suspect came to their house 'crying' and saying 'I love you, I am sorry' during the day Monica is said to have died.
In a spirited fight, Maribe also says she's ready to surrender her passport, adding that continued detention will have a negative impact on her daughter since 'she is a single mother'.
Presiding Judge James Wakiaga will listen and determine their bail application on Wednesday next week.
