Ndile said Mutua has a huge support base that will see him beat his fierce rival, former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti in case of a by-election.

Speaking at Nguumo Boys High School in Kibwezi West on Friday, Ndile said Ndeti does not pose threat to governor Mutua.

"There is nothing to worry about for governor Mutua because he stands a higher chance of being elected in case of a by-election," said Ndeti.

Ndile said Machakos residents trust Mutua than anyone else.

The former Kibwezi lawmaker noted that Mutua is the next big Kamba politician to watch ahead of 2022 general election.

Governor Mutua has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging the Court of Appeal ruling that nullified his victory.

Last week, Mutua got a reprieve when the Chief Justice David Maraga led court issued stay orders stating that Mutua will remain governor pending hearing and determination of the appeal.

On Friday, during an interview on Radio Citizen, Mutua exuded confidence that the Supreme Court will reinstate his victory.
