The raids were conducted following accusations of misappropriation of county funds by the governor's administration.

Governor Waititu was later taken to the EACC headquarters, where he is expected to shade more light on Kiambu county's expenditure.

Following the raid, ODM Communication Director Philip Etale claimed that the governor will later call a press conference, and accuse former Prime Minister Raila Odinga of being behind the raid.

"In the spirit of Tangatanga, he will call a press conference and say it is 'Laira' who sent EACC officers to raid his home. And then Aisha will sing 'hakuna... kama...". Kenya has a million brilliant people," he tweeted.

The first term county boss has been on the spot for allegedly misappropriating county funds.

A few weeks ago, the governor left a Senate Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in deep shock when he admitted that he had no idea how strange items totaling to Sh2.5 billion were part of his budget for the financial year 2017/2018.

He alleged that there must have been something sinister within the system, after the questionable figures emerged into the public domain.

“This may be a system-generated document. Anything could have happened. It could be a mistake or someone may have put it in our documents to portray our county as being irresponsible,” he said.
