Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has now linked the March 9 handshake between president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to the rifts being experienced in Jubilee Party.

Waititu claims that the handshake continues to cause discomfort among Jubilee Party members.

Speaking to journalists at his  Kiambu Town office on Tuesday, Waititu claimed that forces allied to Raila Odinga could be plotting to see Jubilee Party fall apart ahead of 2022.

"I raised questions and equally warned Deputy President William Ruto to be cautious of 'Baba' (Raila Odinga)," he said.

Waititu claimed that Raila's interests in regards to the handshake are not clearly known.

He said that the former Prime Minister could be using the handshake to kill Jubilee and gain popularity ahead of 2022.

Waititu, however, said that Jubilee party will not fall, adding that Mt Kenya's resolve to support DP Ruto's 2022 bid is unstoppable.

There are claims of internal rifts in President Kenyatta led Party pitting politicians allied to the President and Deputy President in regard to the 2022 succession politics.

The Party is planning a retreat to iron out widening differences among members.
