On Saturday Deputy President William Ruto toured Kirinyaga county where he attended a fund drive at the Karoti Girls High School, you can say yes that is normal of the DP to visit different parts of the county, however of importance to note is that county boss Ann Waiguru was missing in action.
After, reactions from the public on why the governor failed to attend the event grace by the DP, Waiguru said she had not received any invitation for DP Ruto to attend the event.
"My office and majority of the leaders did not have any communication from the Deputy President on his intention to visit Kirinyaga as has been the practice in previous visits," said Waiguru.
"We would have accepted the concerned officers to make arrangements with local leadership and communicate accordingly," she added.
Waiguru further said the coming of DP Ruto was unclear since previous communications stated that he(DP Ruto) had delegated Devolution CS Mr Eugene Wamalwa to represent him.
Interestingly Ruto gave a donation of Sh200,000 from Waiguru and even gave her apology in his speech. The leaders present during the event were Kirinyaga county Woman Rep Purity Ngirici, and Kirinyaga county majority leader Mr James Kamau, Senator Daniel Karaba, four MCAs among others.
