Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has kept mum over the spat between former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and former Kathiani Member of Parliament Wavinya Ndeti.
Despite the fact that some leaders and residents have asked him to address the issue, he seems reluctant.
However, there are reasons why he has kept the issue pending and has not leaned on either side.
First, Kalonzo can't yield to Muthama's demands of having Wavinya Ndeti's deputy changed because other Wiper leaders are against it.
He also wouldn't want to show Kenyans that Muthama is the lawmaker in the party.
Nevertheless. he wouldn't make a statement about retaining Peter Mathuki as Wavinya's deputy since Machakos people will judge him and also he has come far with Muthama and he wouldn't want to sever the long-term relationship they have.
Due to that, he has sat on the fence and watched the duo fight over the Wiper deputy candidature in case of a repeat election in Machakos.
In Mbusyani, Kangundo sub-county of Machakos county, Kalonzo told residents that it's the media which misquotes Muthama's utterances to show there's a misunderstanding between the two.
"It's the media which don't understand Muthama's language more so if he speaks in Kamba they can't give a proper interpretation of his words," Kalonzo said.
That's despite the fact Wiper leaders who stood to speak rebuked Muthama for calling for the replacement of Mathuki as Deputy Governor.
