A woman has allegedly killed herself and her three children over what is believed to be a case of domestic violence.
The woman reportedly poisoned the children before committing suicide at their home in Lamjuu Vilage in Belgut Sub County on Monday.
Ezekiel Omondi, the woman's brother, suspected that the incident had something to do with her disagreement with her husband a week ago.
The incident was confirmed by Belgut Sub County Police Commander Philip Okello.
He said that the deaths were discovered by curious villagers upon noticing that her main door had remained closed for too long.
They reportedly peeped into the house, only to see the four bodies lying on the bed before alerting the police who arrived and broke into the house, with the help of residents.
He said that the officers recovered a bottle of pesticide near the bed which they believe the woman might have used to poison the children and herself.
“There was a pungent smell of pesticide in the room where we found the four bodies, there was white foam on the woman’s mouth. A pesticide known as Steladon was recovered on near the bed,” he was quoted by the Nation.
The children were aged six, five and three months old.
The bodies are being preserved at the Sigowet Sub County Hospital morgue.
