Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal has been arrested and bound to be charged alongside his deputy and 11other individuals today.
According to the press statement released by the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, the Governor was found to have contravened the sections of the law while in office.
He will be charged with conspiracy to commit economic crimes, conflict of interest and abuse of office.
"The Investigations established that the Governor Moses Kasaine Lenolkulal was trading with the county government through Oryx Services Station for the supply of fuel since the 27th March 2013 to date.
"It is clear that the Governor engaged in conduct that is expressly prohibited in law and in clear violation of the constitutional principles governing the conduct of public and state officers," read the statement by ODPP.
The DPP approved their prosecution and will face stiff charges especially at the time the country is fully fighting corruption which has been on the rise in the country with the investigative agencies working round the clock in order for the Head of State to leave a legacy of a corrupt free nation.
The Samburu County government is alleged to have paid Orxy Service station a sum of Sh84 million which is in contravention of the law.
The Samburu Governor joins Governor Ojaamong, former Nairobi Governor Dr.Evans Kidero to have been among the high ranking officials to have been arrested for economic crimes.
