Chief Justice David Maraga has addressed members of the press moments after receiving treatment at the War Memorial Hospital.
The president of the judiciary said there was no cause for alarm as he and his wife had sustained minor injuries.
He revealed that he had suffered a laceration in the accident which occurred as they were on their way to church.
"We had a minor accident this morning as we were going to church but we have been attended to. We are fine so there is no cause for alarm. It is just a minor laceration which the doctors have managed to handle very well," he said.
The accident occurs in the context of growing public concern over road incidents many of which have claimed scores of lives.
CJ Maraga and his wife have been airlifted to Nairobi to undergo further treatment.
News of the accident has triggered a massive reaction on social media with Kenyans tendering their wishes of quick recovery to the two.
