In what seems a quick rejoinder after an expose by KahawaTungu (https://www.kahawatungu.com/2018/11/17/kiage-tumaini-owner-dr-kiage-extort-parents/) a blog site associated with blogger Robert Alai, the owner of Kiage Tumaini Secondary School in Kisii County has dismissed claims of mistreatment of staff, extortion of parents and harassing of students.

In a statement doing rounds on social media, Dr. Kiage claims that what is happening on social  media is a backlash of fighting drug peddlers.

"The school suspended 4 students who were suspected of using drugs and had mobile phones. Family members fought to have them back but in vain," read part of the statement.

"When leaving the school compound, the students hurled insults to the administration accusing the director and his board of masterminding the students' predicaments. They even promised to hit back."

In their article , Kahawa Tungu claimed that they were privy to details that Mr Kiage’s school shot to fame after he ensured that most of the students passed their KCSE examinations. This is because he knew the high ranking officials in charge of the national examinations.

In his statement, Dr. Kiage insists that the academic success of his school is founded on the progressive and dynamic school programs whereas there are no exam leakages nor shortcuts and that the school is is run per the Teachers Service Commission and Ministry of Education guidelines and regulations.

A renown journalist has since advised Dr. Kiage to reach to Alai to pull down the article on his website as the response was being circulated on wrong platforms.
