A middle-aged man in Garashi Ward, Magarini Constituency in Kilifi County, attacked his wife with a panga.
Kahindi Mwambire attacked his wife Christine Sidi on Wednesday night for what is alleged to be family issues, leaving her fighting for her life.
Sidi claimed that her husband has been ignoring the family, especially in raising up the children, and when she faced the man started the physical fight.
Confirming the incident at the Malindi Sub-County Hospital, Garashi Ward MCA Peter Ziro rebuked the act and called upon police officers to beef up security in his ward.
“Ni bwana mmoja ambaye anatuhumiwa kukatakata mapanga mkewe kufuatia ugomvi waliokuwa nao na kama kiongozi nalaani vikali kitendo hiki na huyu bwana anafaa kuchukuliwa hatua za kisheria mapema iwezekanavyo.
(It is one man who is said to have attacked his wife using a panga due to family issues. As a leader, I rebuke such and this man should be held responsible and charged accordingly as soon as possible)," said Ziro as reported on a local radio station, Lulu FM.
Sidi was rescued and rushed to Malindi Sub-County Hospital where she is nursing serious injuries.
This comes after several cases across the country of women and young ladies getting attacked by their husbands and boyfriends.
