President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated former State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu asKenya's envoy to the UK.
Reports further indicate that the government has also proposed former SRC Chair Sarah Serem as Kenya's Ambassador to China while ex-DCI bossNdegwa Muhoro will take over in Malaysia.
Lt. Gen. Samuel Thuita, the former Kenya Air Force Commander was appointed as Kenya'sAmbassador to Israel while Paddy Ahenda was nominated as Kenya's ambassador to Qatar.
Other nominees incude: Peter Nicholas Oginga Ogego (Saudi Arabia), Johnson Kimani Ondieki (Turkey), Chris Karumba Mburu (SouthSudan) and Benjamin Langat to Namibia
Speaker Justin Muturi has acknowleged receiving the nominees. He noted that the nominees were now awaiting Parliament’s approval.
“Section 8 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act requires that aCommittee shall consider a nomination and table a report for debate and decision in theHouse within fourteen (14) days from the date of notification,” the memo from Muturi'soffice read.
“In this regard, and in accordance with the provisions of Article 259(5)(a) of the Constitutionas read together with section 5 of the said Act, the seven (7) days’ notification to the publicshall start running on the day following the day when the notice is published in the dailies,”it further added.
