Mbai asked residents to ignore the propaganda being peddled that the number is 'satanic'.

Speaking at Endau trading centre in Kitui East on Sunday, the Jubilee lawmaker told residents that registering for the Huduma Namba will be beneficial to them.

He said that the number will ensure residents and Kenyans have easy access to government services.

“Let us all register and get the number because it will be crucial in determining our access to government services,” he said.

Mbai asked local leaders to sensitise residents on the need of getting the number.

The lawmaker at the same time said that no one should be forced to register, noting that the exercise is voluntary as directed by the High Court.

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the Huduma Namba registration in Machakos three weeks ago.

The president said the number will be a game changer in terms of service delivery to Kenyans.

However, a section of religious leaders has linked the Huduma Namba to ‘satanism’.

Last week, police arrested controversial televangelist Paul Mackenzie over allegations of inciting Kenyans against the Huduma Namba.
