Supporters allied to ODM and Jubilee clashed on various social media forums on Thursday morning even as Governor John Nyagarama and Jubilee stalwart Walter Nyambati prepared for Supreme Court battle.
Five judges will on Thursday hear submissions from both sides over Nyagarama's re-election petition in which Nyambati argues that he rigged 'massively' in 2017.
In one WhatsApp group, supporters of both leaders engaged fiercely with Nyambati's men accusing Nyagarama of 'gross incompetence'.
"We hope Supreme Court will deliver justice to the people. We can't wait for four years. The governor is grossly incompetent," said Jared Onyancha.
Another user, Peter Nyerere added: "Very sad that one rigs and clings on. May God touch the judges for the sake of people."
But Nyagarama's supporters could hear non of that, some accusing Nyambati of dragging development in the county.
"He can't accept defeat even after losing both on ballot and court. We shall send him where he belongs," argued George Momanyi.
Mr Nyambati lost a battle both at the High Court and Appeals Court before moving to Supreme Court in July.
