President Uhuru Kenyatta is among more than 10 heads of states, heads of international organizations and over 10, 000 participants from different countries attending a three-day Sustainable Blue Economy Conference at the Kenyatta International Conventional Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

Taking to his twitter account, the Head of State welcomed all participants to the high-level meeting. 

“I am delighted to welcome my fellow Heads of State and Government to #Nairobi for the opening of the Sustainable #BlueEconomyKe Conference. I look forward to the successful implementation of the pledges, and outcomes of this conference | @WilliamsRuto,” he wrote. 

The conference will be focusing on how countries can use their water resources for example oceans, lakes, seas and river for economic growth, improving the livelihood of their people and creating opportunities for the country's population in terms of employment.

Addressing the delegation President Kenyatta said: “We have convened at the Blue Economy Conference to commit to innovative and transformative ways of using and sustaining our oceans, seas, lakes and rivers.”

“Unless our environmental riches are protected, there can be no lasting prosperity for any of us,” he added. 

During this meeting, various things will be discussed which includes available opportunities and the main challenge presented by the Blue Economy.
