Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has admitted giving in after he was blocked from speaking at a function in Malindi, Kilifi county.
The latter had attended a funeral service at Jilore in the constituency, but was taken off the podium by area Member of Parliament and former ODM diehard Aisha Jumwa.
This is after Sifuna attacked the lawmaker over her ongoing wrangles with the party, with Jumwa in turn taking issue with him for bringing political matters at the funeral service.
"Mweshimiwa SG ulipofikia hutaweza kuendelea, hatuko hapa kuzungumzia maswala ya ODM bali kufariji familia ya Kingi, heshimu wamijikenda.
(You must respect the mijikenda conmunity, we will not allow you to bring politics here, this is a funeral service. We will not discuss ODM issues her," said Jumwa, before snatching the microphone,in a video making rounds on social media.
In a tweet after the incident, the former Nairobi and Bungoma Senatorial aspirant said that he gave in out of respect for womanhood
Sifuna noted that he was not going to engage Jumwa into a physical confrontation after being denied the oppotunity.
"I would never get into a physical confrontation with a woman. Never have. Never will," he said.
This comes amid a growing rivalry between the party and Jumwa, after ODM expelled the vocal lawmaker over her links with Deputy President William Ruto's side of the ruling Jubilee Party.
She has since gone ahead to openly join him, as she fights ODM's expulsion attempts.
