Ex-Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama on Saturday assured former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti of his support for the county's gubernatorial seat.

However, the support was followed by a condition that Ndeti should drop her former running mate Peter Mathuki first.

Muthama described Mathuki as a political conman who had the audacity to even lie to a Catholic father.

"I was with a father called Fr. Kilulu. He told me that when I went to Kikesa Catholic Church accompanied by Mathuki, he (Mathuki) pledged to buy seats for the church worth Sh40,000 which he never honored. After I gave him the money to pay his 'debt', he still failed to honor his pledge. How do you expect me to support someone like that?" said Muthama.

As long as Ndeti has Mathuki as her deputy, Muthama won't support her fully.

In fact, he may even retract his already wavering support.

Muthama said Ndeti should forget his political support if she fails to heed to his advice.

"If Mathuki won't be replaced, I would rather say better the old thief than a new one. Better the one we're used to," he said.

The controversial Kamba politician didn't support Ndeti for the Machakos gubernatorial seat for what he termed as sham Wiper party nominations.
