Deputy President William Ruto is a man under siege and whose 2022 presidential bid is being fought from all sides and is expected to make even more enemies before 2022.
And since he cannot have offended all the people fighting him now and the ones very likely to emerge in the near future, he has only his ambitions to blame for his problems.
Politicians who have declared war on him so far include former Jubilee Deputy Vice Chair David Murathe and Cherangany lawmaker and former ally Joshua Kuttuny.
Ruto is suffering from his big ambitions and is now facing the wrath of people either opposed or afraid of his leadership and of course, a few more who are only out to sabotage him.
Also, he is as well suffering from his loose tongue, lack of respect for senior and older politicians and reckless talk whenever he gets the chance.
He seems to have passed the characteristic down to some of his allies, including the likes of Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
The duo has been using each opportunity they get to attack the DP's rivals, especially opposition chief Raila Odinga, without considering even the age and experience gap.
This might be the fear among his opposers that the situation could worsen in the instance that he makes it to the top and might increase with time to ensure that he doesn't.
On the other side are his implication in graft and the widespread narrative that he is a corrupt man, allegations yet to be proved by his accusers.
This might make anti-corruption campaigners fight his bid in fear that he will milk the nation dry upon ascending to the throne.
Therefore, Ruto should prepare for tough days and more enemies ahead.
