According to the night security guard who declined to be named as he is not authorized to speak on behalf of the school, the inferno broke at around 8 pm when the learners were holding evening prayers.

"Learners had convened in a hall for evening prayers when the inferno broke. I rushed and informed them not to go near dormitory which was going up in flames," said the security guard.

He said he later alerted the school principal identified as Lusa about the incident.

Efforts by villagers to put off fire were in vain.

"We tried to put off the fire in vain. Strong wind made the fire to spread too fast. Nothing was salvaged from the dormitory," said a village Dorine Nyaboke.

The school principal, Lusa said probe has commenced to establish what caused the fire.

"No causalities were reported from the inferno only that all the students' belongings were reduced to ashes," said the principal.
