While undergoing treatment in the US, Nyagarama reportedly rejected Raila Odinga's phone call, further escalating the debate.

"I can assure you that Nyagarama is no longer with us. He has openly rejected us," Irshad Sumra had said when he visited Nyamira.

Lately, the governor has been linked with ties to Deputy President William Ruto, whom he has met in several occasions.

And on Friday during the burial of his son, Ndemo Nyagarama, the ODM leader seemed to have furnished Raila Odinga with information over the unfortunate incident.

"The governor has been undergoing treatment and he is determined to serve his people.

"He even rejected my calls because doctors in US had advised him against persistent calls to people," Raila defended the ODM governor.

This Thursday, Nyagarama will know his fate at Kisumu Appeals Court following a case that was filed by Jubilee candidate Walter Nyambati.

Early April, sources within Orange House had intimated frosty relationship between the two leaders.
