The governor descended on the 4-acre plantation with a power saw with the help of residents, claiming that the land was illegally grabbed from locals before a bulldozer was beckoned to complete the destruction.

Emerging details indicate that the county boss has gone into hiding, and the police have issued instructions to the Kisumu and Eldoret airports in case he tries to flee, according to county police commissioner Samuel Kimiti.

On Saturday, the county boss was forced to make a dramatic escape from the police while addressing a rally in Nandi Hills and is said to have escaped into the tea plantations.

Police claim that he used saloon cars and motorbikes and escaped into Chemelil Town, Kisumu County, after cutting short his speech, apparently leaving his security detail behind to make easy his escape.

He is also facing allegations of assaulting an employee of former Tinderet MP and his rival Henry Kosgei.

Also on the police radar are two County Executive Committee members in Sang's government, while county senator Samson Cherargei and 5 MCAs have distanced themselves from the incident.

The police boss assured the nation that the county boss will be arrested and charged as he, just like everyone else, is not above the law.

“We are at work and all individuals who were part of the Kibwari Tea Estate invasion, including the Nandi Governor, will be arrested. The governor is not above the law and is not at liberty to invade private property and cause destruction,” he said.

Two drivers who operated the bulldozers are being held at the Nandi Police Station.
