The ongoing National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) referred to as Huduma Namba registration has gained a lot of controversy with a section of Kenyans terming the exercise "satanic".
Some people believe Huduma Namba is the fulfilment of the biblical prophecy of the demonic 666 number as written in the book of Revelation.
Students at Moi University in Eldoret on Monday came out to comment on the topic during a vox pop conducted by Hivisasa.
“I think those who believe Huduma Namba is satanic are overthinking. Huduma Namba is a project that will enable the government to deliver services to the common citizens easily. Let’s just view it from that perspective and participate in the exercise,” Rodgers Kundu a third-year student at the Kesses-based institution stated.
According to a section of the students, the only worry that Kenyans should have is the safety of their private details.
“Let’s stop being unreasonable. As a strong Christian, I can confidently state that Huduma Namba is not satanic. However, Kenyans should be more concerned on the safety of the information that they will be providing the government,” Joseph Onyango, a political science student noted.
Several political leaders including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Depuy President William Ruto have come out to register for Huduma Namba in an effort to encourage Kenyans to take part in the exercise.
