The pre-trial conference of Governor Okoth Obado and his other co-accused in Sharon Otieno's murder has been postponed to next month, presiding Judge Jessie Lessit has ruled.
Governor Obado (Migori), his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero were set to know terms and conditions for their trial on the murder of Rongo University Student Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby on Thursday.
The office of Director of Public Prosecution made an application requesting for more time to study almost 1000 pages of electronic evidence with at least eight witnesses also yet to record any evidence.
"Pre-trial conference of Migori Governor Okoth Obado & co-accused Michael Oyamo & Caspal Obiero charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno & her unborn baby has been postponed to 20.3.19."
"Justice Lessit postponed the pretrial after Prosecution led by SADPP Alex Muteti told court that it needed time to analyze over 1000 pages of electronic evidence. Muteti also informed court that 8 witnesses are yet to record their statements," ODPP said on Twitter.
The trial of the three is scheduled for May this year and the postponed comes months after the DPP promised to have the three jailed in connection to the murder that hit headlines both locally and internationally.
While Obado was released on tough bond conditions, his two aides are still at Industrial Area Remand awaiting trial even though they denied any link to the murder.
And this comes just a day after Obado, through his defense team, asked the judge to review terms and conditions of the body, arguing that they have made execution of his duties almost impossible.
