Five robbery suspects were on Wednesday arrested by police officers in Mombasa County.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the five are allegedly part of a criminal group behind a series of robbery cases in the county.
The five were arrested during an operation carried out by DCI detectives who received an intelligence report.
During the operation, the detectives managed to recover assorted household goods which are believed to have been stolen from residents in the county.
The police said the suspects were being trailed following a series of robberies in Majengo Mapya and Shelly Beach area of Likoni.
The suspects who will be arraigned in court to face various charges were also found in possession of military attire.
The five suspects who are in police custody are Brian Templer Oyare, George Samuel Okoth alias Musede, Robert Okoth, Mohamed Ali Hamisi and Rashid Juma.
“Five suspects of robbery with violence have been arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives in Mombasa. The arrests followed an intelligence report received after a series of robberies and burglaries within Shelly Beach and Majengo Mpya. Military attire and other items were recovered,” read a tweet by the DCI.
