The leader of the majority in the National Assembly Adan Duale has maintained that he only speaks for himself and not anyone.
With speculations that there is a rift between him and Deputy President William Ruto regarding the current debate on the referendum, Duale has made it clear that he is not working for anybody.
"I am not anyone's title deed," he said on Friday as quoted by the Star.
The Garissa Township legislator was referring to reports in a local daily that he had dumped Ruto.
Duale has been pushing for a referendum which proposes a parliamentary system while DP Ruto has always been thought to be against any referendum.
The vocal legislator had argued that a Parliamentary system is best for Kenya at the moment and it should be embraced by all Kenyans to end tribalism and political injustices.
"The electoral contest should be at the constituency level and not at Bomas of Kenya and Supreme Court" read part of his recent tweet.
DP Ruto on the hand has rubbished the campaigns to have a referendum saying that it is a waste of time and resources.
He accused those pushing for it of trying to create positions which will fulfil their personal interests.
“It’s not possible that we politic during general elections and continues with the same at the time we should be working hard to improve lives of residents. We will not entertain politics of creating positions for a few individuals at the expense of delivering services and empowering Kenyans. Those propagating this are power-hungry and selfish,” said DP Ruto as quoted by Nation at a past event in Funyula constituency.
