Street children in Kisii town have been accused of dumping faeces carelessly in the streets.
Traders operating at Daraja Mbili market on Tuesday claimed that the street children dump faeces at night all over business stalls, something that is hindering their business operations.
"Street children are not giving us humble time to do business because when we leave to our homes at night they dump faeces all over at the business stalls. Efforts to report them to market officials for necessary action has gone in vain because no 'chokora' has been arrested," Doris Okeyo, a businessman said.
Ms Okeyo said traders spend most of the time cleaning the business stalls every morning instead of selling which has made their profits margins reduce drastically.
"We have lost several customers because of these street children who always dump human waste carelessly. Business stalls are turned into beds at night," she stated.
Thomson Osoro, another affected trader, appealed to Kisii County government to act speedily to ensure the street children are rescues away from the streets.
"Governor Ongwae's officers should intervene so that our businesses can run smoothly. We don't want to lose more customers. We are making losses every day," he noted.
He said the construction of Kiamwasi Rescue Centre should be completed to save the street urchins menace which has affected general operation in Kisii.
