Karua argued that Uhuru is surrounded by corrupt individuals, adding that the fight to end the vice will not bear fruits if the Head of State spares his cronies.

The former Gichugu Member of Parliament insisted that there is an urgent need for President Uhuru to ensure public resources are protected for the sake of the taxpayer.

“@UKenyatta For the war on graft to progress, there is urgent need for you to act decisively on high ranking suspects in cabinet and civil service,” said Karua in a Tweet on Thursday.

Karua’s remarks come after Uhuru urged Chief Justice David Maraga to prioritise cases involving loss of billions in government projects. Uhuru, who is on his second and final term in office, acknowledged the fact that billions of taxpayers' money are being lost through unclear deals.

He called upon leaders and Kenyans to support him as he seeks to leave behind a legacy before he retires in 2022, adding that there is nothing like small and big fish when it comes to the fight against graft.
