The government intends to use information communication technology as an enabler to the Big Four agenda, ICT Cabinet Secretary JoeMucheru has said.

Speaking on Thursday during a site visit of the Konza Technocity, which also involved members of the Senate committee on ICT led by Chairman Gideon Moi, CS Mucheru said the Konza Technocity would spur both the housing and manufacturing sectors which are part of the government's Big Four agenda.

"It is impossible to use ICT alone to spur growth. We intend to use ICT as an enabler to the Big Four agenda, "said Mr. Mucheru.

He said a new ICT policy will soon be tabled in parliament to replace the one formulated in 2006.

"The convergence that is happening especially in use of mobile money is significant. It is important to focus on the mobile where most of the services are happening, "he said.

Mr Mucheru said Konza is going to be significant in providing the infrastructure necessary for ICT growth in the country.

He added that the infrastructure will also enable the government to provide efficient services online in order to create transformation in all sectors.
