The mace is alleged to have gone missing Tuesday night, in what appears like a theft case, reports the Citizen Digital.

Confirming the incident, temporary Speaker Evans Marieba noted that the disappearance of the symbol of authority has since been reported at the Homabay Police Station.

Homabay Members of County Assembly (MCAs) on Wednesday demanded for answers on the whereabouts of the mace, before being forced to use an old one used by the previous parliament.

According to the MCAs, the disappearance was realized Wednesday morning and announced by the Sergeant at Arms when they could not locate it.

Kabondo West MCA Geoffrey Anyango wondered how the mace supposedly found it’s way out of the heavily secured Speakers office where it is stored.

This comes only a day after chaos erupted in the house, after a section of the members accused house Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo of bias.

The group alleged that Ayoo had changed a list of new house leaders, in a situation that culminated in violence and disorder.

Outgoing Majority Leader Richard Ogindo who was last month ousted, and whose place is to be taken by Kanyadoto MCA Walter Muok led his allies in snubbing the sitting.
