Political Parties Dispute Tribunal on Friday dismissed the decision by ODM party to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.City lawyer Donald Kipkorir, however, was not convinced by the decision of the tribunal. According to the lawyer, the fact that politicians are not loyal to their political parties is a recipe to corruption, noting the decision be petitioned at the High Court.
"The decision by Political Parties Tribunal to quash the expulsion of Aisha Jumwa from ODM is Illogical, Irrational, devoid of Reason & without Jurisdiction ... The High Court will quash it. Disloyalty in Political Parties is the catalyst of Corruption. The Tribunal failed Kenya," read a tweet by Kipkorir.
The tribunal indicated the proceedings that led to the expulsion of Aisha Jumwa were against the constitution meaning as at now, she remains a valid ODM member.
“The tribunal hereby declares that the proceedings violated Article 47 of the constitution ... were unprocedural and violated provisions of the Political Parties Act, Fair Administrative Action Act and Article 8.4.2 of the ODM,” the Tribunal said.
The legislator while reacting after the Tribunal's decision expressed her satisfaction how the case was handled.
She had been expelled from the party for supporting Deputy President William Ruto.
