ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna has rubbished assertions that all Luhya leaders could be bought cheaply by their counterparts from other tribes.
While reacting to a Twitter user, M Khisa, who took issue with Khalwale not being recognised officially in Jubilee, Sifuna said the blame should be apportioned to individuals, not the whole tribe.
The Twitter user had claimed that Khalwale had allowed himself to be bought cheaply, compared to a time in the run-up to 2017 elections, when even an MCA who was defecting from NASA to Jubilee was received by the president in the state house.
"There was time an MCA defecting from NASA to Jubilee would have been received by the president at statehouse, boni defected to jubilee and he received himself in his own home. I say luhyias are cheap (sic)," M Khisa tweeted.
The remarks irked Sifuna who accused the Twitter user of blaming the whole community for being cheap just because of mistakes committed by an individual.
The ODM secretary-general said; "It's very unfair to generalize @khisa14 don't say luhyias are cheap... Just address the stock that put itself on the market (sic)."
Khalwale defected to Jubilee from Ford Kenya in May 2019, where he was received by Deputy President William Ruto at a function in Kakamega.
However, Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju had denied receiving Khalwale into the party.
