Speaking in Karen, Nairobi on Sunday, the Head of State disclosed having received calls from some individuals seeking his intervention, some of whom have cut their friendship following his refusal to stop the demolitions.

But speaking on Milele FM’s ‘Kivumbi’ on Monday morning, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior hailed the ongoing operation, advising Uhuru to stand his ground.

He added that the President should not be worried about the friends he is losing as he is doing the right thing, pledging his readiness to fill the gap and join his new list of buddies.

‘’Rais Uhuru, mimi sasa nitakuwa rafiki yako kwa hivyo usijali . Urafiki utaupata (do not be worried, I will be your friend),’’ said Kilonzo.

Uhuru who sympathised with the developers, most of whose buildings stand on riparian areas, noted that he cannot stand in the way of the demolitions, terming it the only way to kill the rising levels of impunity in the society.

‘’It’s not like we are enjoying the destruction but we must stop this impunity," he told believers at the Faith Evangelistic Ministry in Karen.

The operation which is now on its second week has received mixed reactions from Kenyans.
