In a press statement issued on Monday, the apex court dismissed claims of deliberately delaying the judgment.

The CJ Maraga-led court said it is still within the 90 days period allowed to hear and determine an election case as stipulated in the Supreme Court rules.

“The court would like to inform counsel and parties that the judgment will be delivered before February 21, 2019,” the statement read as quoted by the daily Nation.

Renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has several times accused the court of allegedly delaying the judgment.

Layer Abdullahi, represents former Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi who petitioned the election of Abdi Mohamud Ali.

The High Court and the Court of Appeal nullified Mohamud election on grounds he does not hold university degree.

The two, in annulling the governor’s election, also cited massive irregularities and illegalities in the election.

The Supreme Court has so far made judgments on 24 gubernatorial petitions.
