Speaking on Monday during the burial of his friend Batista Maina in Meru County, Kiunjuri said it is evident that the region has not identified someone who can perfectly fit in President Kenyatta’s shoes.

He said time has come for leaders from Mt Kenya region to wake up and examine their way forward.

The vocal CS claimed that other communities are likely to take the GEMA community for a ride, if it does not come up with a proper succession plan.

“As a people with great interest in our community, we must sit and open our eyes wide. It will reach a time when we will get spat upon," he said.

"A farmer without his tractor ploughs before rains start ... We can't just stay rudderless expecting God to return. We must get saved while on Earth and eat the holy Sacrament before Christ’s return," he added.

Kiunjiri asserted that the people from the region are likely to be misled to follow others blindly if they are not guided on the right path.

The funeral was also attended by Senator John Kinyua, Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri and other local leaders.

The leaders challenged Kiunjuri to traverse the country and get in touch with the friends of the community, before the end of Uhuru’s term.
