Swaleh was among the passengers who had boarded Ethiopian Airline Boeing 737 passenger plane before it crashed 6 minutes after leaving the Addis Ababa Airport while on its way to Nairobi on Sunday morning, reports Daily Nation.

Swaleh was travelling back to the country from CAF Champions League match between Egyptian side Ismailia and DRC's TP Mazembe before he met his tragic death.

The Ethiopian Airline confirmed that all the passengers who were on board died following the crash.

The passengers were from 33 nationalities.

The incident occurred at 08.44 local time, six minutes after the flight took-off from the Ethiopian capital.

The jet has been identified as B-737-800MAX, registration ET-AVJ.

The Ethiopian government had said that mission to rescue survivors had kicked off before the revelations of the deaths.

"The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express its deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning," the office of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on Twitter.

The government of Kenya has already sent a special team to Ethiopia following the announcement of the deaths.
