A form two student in Riatwenye village in Nyatieko, Mosocho on Saturday shocked villagers after he attempted to take poison, claiming that his parents have been insulting him over his poor performance in last term’s exams.
Area chief Lawrence Omari said the victim, Zebedeo Mogeni, threatened his parents that he will end his life should they continue insulting him.
“Mogeni performed poorly in last term’s exams something that angered their parents who he claimed they have been abusing and insulting him. He threatened to commit suicide went due to his parents’ numerous insults over his alleged poor performance,” he stated.
Mr Omari said Mogeni living true by his threats he bought poison on Saturday from a local shop and consumed as his parents watched.
“The victim’s parents screamed for help after he took poison in front of them. He was rushed to Bosongo hospital in Kisii where he is fighting for his life,” said the chief.
Julius Ogora a doctor attending the victim at the facility confirmed that the victim is out of danger since he is responding well to medication.
