Mandera Governor Ali Roba has condemned the Wednesday killing of two non-local teachers at Arabia Secondary School by Suspected Al-Shabaab militants.

Roba says that the killing was an act of cowardice by the terror militants and wants the national government to enhance security in the county, especially on borders with Somalia.

Speaking in Mandera town on Wednesday, Roba claimed that Al-Shabaab militants want to create division among Muslims and Christians on a religious basis.

“The attack is cowardly and we condemn it in strongest terms possible and urge the government security apparatus to hunt down the attackers,” he said.

Governor Roba asked the residents to cooperate and volunteer information that will guarantee security.

The Mandera Governor also warned youths against being lured to join terrorist groups.

Suspected Al-Shabaab militants allegedly stormed Arabia Secondary School armed with guns and grenades on Wednesday morning.

The militants then proceeded to the school teaching quarters, killing two non-local teachers.

The attackers then hurled grenades at classrooms, setting a fire that razed them down.

Mandera has in the recent years experienced a spate of terrorist attacks.

According to North Eastern regional coordinator Mohamed Birik, the hunt for the terrorists is on.

Birik further says that security has been enhanced across the region as the national examination start next month.
