Speaking at St Rosary AIPCA-Kiithe in Imenti South, Kiratu called upon leaders from the region to stop engaging in politics at the expense of development.

He reminded the leaders to embrace the handshake between Uhuru and Raila Odinga for the sake of development. He also appealed to church leaders not to listen to politicians when they are supposed to preach unity.

“AIPCA is a church that has a long history which should not be eroded due to leadership instability."

He also admitted that he has been facing endless challenges since he was elected into office but reminded other leaders that they must stand up against poor governance.

“l am also facing challenges as a governor but this is normal in leadership. Be strong and embrace peace," the Meru Governor said.

His remarks come at a time when there are leadership wrangles within the AIPCA church in Meru. Archbishop Julius Njoroge is not in good terms with Archbishop Fredrick Wang’ombe.

The duo has differed over the leadership of the church. Leaders have urged them to bury their differences for the sake of the spiritual growth of the brethren but it seems the war between them is far from over.
