A man has been confirmed dead after jumping from a ferry into the Indian Ocean on Friday noon.
The unidentified 25-year-old latter is said to have committed the suicide at the Likoni Channel in Mombasa aboard the MV Jambo vessel.
The incident was confirmed by Likoni deputy police boss Selina Wanjala.
The officer noted that the police suspect that he took the move as a result of domestic wrangles and disagreements with his family.
"It is true the man committed suicide and we have information that he had family issues," officer Wanjala told the Standard.
According to a witness, the man might have had the evil plan in mind for long.
The witness said that he has severally been spotted at the place where he dived into the ocean.
The witness added that the man has been looking disturbed all the time.
He added that the latter who lives in Jamvi La Wageni area in Likoni has been having issues with his wife.
The body of the deceased was retrieved from the water by divers from the Kenya Ferry Service under the leadership of Assistant Security Officer Alton Nyambu.
It is being preserved at the Coast General Hospital mortuary.
