He will also make attempts to get some votes in the less-promising Luo Nyanza region, which has traditionally leaned towards opposition leader Raila Odinga and will as well try to have some elected members from the region.

But Raila is most likely to make attempts to  stop the move as he seeks to seal off the region, and retain his dominance and title as the Luo political kingpin and here are some of the  techniques he can use to keep Ruto off the region.

1. Vigorous silent  campaigns

Ruto has since mastered the art of campaigning and his known for his vigorous cvampaigns as he tousr the entire nation in preparation for his bid.

Taking advantage of Ruto’s less trips in the region, Raila should embark on silent campaigns as early as now to ensure that he retains hold of the vote-rich zone.

He can do this using regular trips to the region, a move that will make his supporters be sure that he is still in the game, therefore, making Ruto’s attempts irrelevant when he starts his own campaigns.

2. New promises

Though the region remains disappointed after he failed to deliver it to Canaan as he had promised in his 2017 presidential bid, he can come up with new but realistic promises to make the region focused on him.

It is only through these that he can lock off Ruto who is campaigning on the basis of the government’s achievements, while he (Raila) has no development achievement to brag about, being outside the government.

3. Redeployment of troops

He should also redeploy his allies and political friends from the region and dispatch them throughout the region to ensure that Ruto's offensive, when it comes, is already overshadowed by his own dominance.
