Kesses village is still in shock after it emerged that two siblings had ran away from home to get married to each other.
The two, Valary Cherop and Victor Kipsang allegedly approached their parents with the marriage idea hoping they would understand.
The parents, however, opposed the move leaving the two frustrated.
"On Friday, Kiprop came to me and told me that he wanted to marry his sister. At first I thought he was joking so I told him to go ahead. But when they both came to me on Saturday asking for my blessings, I realized it was now serious," Jennifer Jebet, the mother to the siblings, narrated.
The father on the other hand is said to have approached Kiprop later on the same night and scolded him for spoiling his daughter.
He threatened to throw him out of his house should he go ahead with the proposed plan.
"I thought I was just issuing an empty threat. I did not think he would take it seriously. I was however disappointed and not ready to allow my children to commit such an abomination," Edwin Kipsang, father to the children said.
The two siblings however eloped on Sunday morning and news of their intentions to get married broke out after their disappearance.
The act of incest is considered an abomination among the Kalenjin people.
Those who engage in it are considered as outcasts.
