A KCSE candidate died in Nyeri during a party to mark the start of their national exam.

The student at Gaichanjiru Boys High School died on Saturday night during a ‘dunda’ in the school’s dining hall.

Dunda is slang for a dancing party held by high school students.

The boy is said to have collapsed as he danced and efforts to resuscitate were futile.

He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The school Principal James Mbothu said the student had been healthy.

“The boy was with others in the dining hall for their entertainment and he went down and collapsed. Everyone has been shocked by the turn of events,” Mbothu said.

It was tears for the candidate’s family as they received the news of the death.
