Kisumu Woman Representative Rosa Buyu has vowed to push for justice for the family of murdered Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Wednesday, Buyu said that she will rally women in Nyanza region to push for speedy justice.
The legislator noted that Sharon’s murder is sad, adding that stiff action ought to be taken against those found guilty.
“We are going to push the government agencies to speed up investigations and prosecution of the culprits involved,” she said.
According to her, university girls have become a target for ‘sponsors’ who use them, and terminate their lives.
“The right to life is sacred and no one has authority to take another one’s life,” she said.
Ms Otieno's murder continues to elicit reactions with the government promising to nail down the culprits.
The second year university student was found dead, a day after she was abducted alongside Nation reporter Barack Oduor.
The body of the student was found in Kodera forest on Tuesday.
Reports indicate that Sharon was seven months pregnant at the time of her death.
So far, a personal aide to Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been arrested over the murder.
