Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi is among MPs likely to be summoned over claims of bribery in Parliament before the end of the week.
Investigative agencies led by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on speaker Justin Muturi’s invite, have already started a probe into the bribery allegations in Parliament.
According to confidential sources, Gedi, alongside several other MPs who allegedly witnessed the bribery will be summoned before the end of the week.
Kimilili MP Dedmus Barasa and Simba Arati (Dagoretti North) have been quoted by the media claiming that they witnessed the bribery.
The office of the Clerk of the National Assembly is said to have written to the MPs who witnessed the bribery to shed more light.
“Things have started rolling and we are likely to see some MPs being interrogated before the end of the week,” a confidential source said on Tuesday.
Gedi has denied claims of facilitating the bribery to some MPs in Parliament last week.
The Wajir Women Rep says that claims by Kimilili MP that she issued handouts to other lawmakers are false.
Gedi adds that some people are out to injure her reputation.
On Sunday, Muturi invited investigative agencies to probe the matter with pressure mounting on Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to for the arrest of the culprits involved.
Garissa Township MP Aden Duale who is among MPs who opposed the sugar report has welcomed the investigations into the alleged bribery.
Duale says that he is not aware of MPs taking bribes but said investigations will unravel the truth.
Suba MP John Mbadi has also welcomed the probe insisting that they rejected the sugar report on grounds that it had serious gaps.
