Residents of Maili Sita trading centre in Bahati, Nakuru County, were on Sunday left in shock after a 28-year-old woman stabbed her son to death.
The woman, Sharon Wangari, attempted to commit suicide after allegedly killing her 5-year-old son.
According to the police, Wangari stabbed her son several times with a Kitchen knife at their home and later stabbed herself on the stomach before she was rescued by neighbours who found her unconscious lying on the floor.
She was taken to Bahati Hospital before being transferred to Nakuru Level 5 Hospital for specialised treatment.
According to citizentv.co.ke, the neighbours suspect that the woman killed her son and attempted suicide following a marital dispute with her husband who was not present at the scene.
Nakuru North Police boss Jacinta Mwarania who confirmed the incident and said that investigations have been launched to establish what happened.
“The woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Investigations are underway to establish the motive of the incident,” said the police boss.
