Most Kenyan men think that marrying daughters of the rich or prominent politicians would cost you a lot and should be left for the "loaded" guys.

However, Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama recently shocked listeners during an interview in a local radio station when he said for a man to marry one of his daughters, he doesn't need to be filthy rich.

The politician was responding to his interviewer's question on the conditions for a man to marry his daughter.

Muthama said he believes in love hence wouldn't object if his daughters get married out of it.

"So long as there is love between the two people, who am I to give demands? Everyone wishes their kids get married to people who care about them and would adhere to their promise of caring for them," Muthama said.

The controversial politician said he would bless a union brought together by love and not social standards.

"I would bless their union and live in peace knowing that I gave my daughter to someone who would love and care for her, that's all," he said.

Muthama, however, ignored questions on whether any of his daughters were single and available.
